Our program features an 8-week Water Sports Day Program (Monday -­ Friday) followed by a 12-day Sierra Sleep-Away. The Day Program utilizes FIVE different program days in order to give a variety of outdoor experiences to our campers and staff alike. On the Sierra Sleep-Away you will enjoy a true camping experience, with tent living, on the beautiful shores of Bass Lake, near Yosemite. Employment Requirements

  • Minimum age 19 and one year of college.
  • Three year valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Live in the West LA or San Fernando Valley area in the summer (We are primarily a day program and are unable to provide housing.
  • Ability to obtain Red Cross First Aid, CPR and Lifeguarding (camp will provide training, if necessary).
  • Applicants are subject to a background check, drug, and alcohol testing prior to and during employment.
  • Desire and ability to work with young people ages 7-17.
  • Ability to put children’s needs above your own during time as a staff member.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Must have good work references.

Dates of employment:

The total camp program and employment length is 10 weeks long.  The day program is Monday through Friday (June 21 - August 13, 2010).  The Sierra Sleep-Away is 12 days long and brings the summer to an exciting close (August 16 - August 27, 2010). 

Staff Training

Staff Training is crucial to the success of both the staff person and the program.  Staff Training will take place June 11-13th and June 29th, 2010.  Additional training days are also required in June.  These days may be scheduled to fit the needs of each staff person.  Staff Training is paid.

Hours:

Actual hours vary depending on the location and route. Generally staff hours are 8:00 a.m. ­- 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for the day program and somewhat longer hours on the Sierra Sleep-Away.

Salary:

Salary starts at $350 per week. Higher salary tiers may be available for those with previous experience, certifications, etc. An additional $400 bonus may be earned during employment.
